Those who protested from Bangladesh are real heroes: Mushfiq

Journalist Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey says that those who protested against the forced disappearances, murders and torture perpetrated by the ousted Sheikh Hasina’s government are the real heroes.

He returned home on Thursday (September 12) after almost a decade in exile in the US. A reception was organised for him at the National Press Club on Friday (September 13) afternoon.

Ansarey is one of those who spoke against the Awami League government for human rights violations, electoral fraud and authoritarianism.

He was showered with warm wishes and love from friends, colleagues and fans. Ansarey said those who fought against the fascist government and gave a new Bangladesh are the heroes of the country.

He said people were kept in fear for 15 years. In the end, that fear has been dispelled in exchange for the blood of the students. Families who have lost their children have sacrificed the most in this revolution.

“Don’t think everything has been achieved yet. Sheikh Hasina’s friends are still serving in different places. With that courage, Hasina can say that she will come back quickly,” he said.

He also warned against conspiracies from the neighbouring countries.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam called Anasarey a hero. He said that there is a conspiracy to destroy the national unity created through the mass uprising. “We must be united to stop it.”
